
06 Apr Inauguration of the Habib Bourguiba Esplanade in Paris
On April 6, 2004, four years after President Habib Bourguiba’s passing, The Paris City Hall inaugurated the Habib Bourguiba Esplanade in the 7th arrondissement of the City of Lights (Quai d’Orsay). On this occasion, the mayor of Paris, Mr Bertrand Delanoe delivers a speech where he pays tribute to the founder of the Modern Tunisian Nation.
“Paris honours him today and beyond, marks his deep commitment to Tunisia, its people and its future […] May all walkers of this place keep in mind that, irrigated by these wise principles, here, in the Habib Bourguiba Esplanade, with confidence, beats the heart of the affection which unites the Tunisian and the French people.”
